Tropical Storm Bonnie 2010 : Top Sustained Winds
The National Hurricane Center promoted Tropical Depression 3 to Bonnie in a special advisory at 6:15 p.m. after an Air Force plane flew into the system this afternoon and found top sustained winds of 40 mph, just above the 39 mph threshold for a tropical storm.
The storm is expected to move through the area of the Gulf where the oil spill cleanup effort is taking place on its way to its predicted landfall near the Louisiana-Texas border. The federal government’s oil spill chief says he'll decide Thursday evening whether to evacuate ships helping with cleanup
