Viking coach Brad Childress used part of his press conference following Minnesota’s Sunday night loss at Green Bay to rip the game’s referees. Childress called it the “worst officiated game I’ve seen.”
He took particular issue with a second-quarter review — on the play in question, Brett Favre threw what was initially ruled a touchdown pass to tight end Visanthe Shiancoe, who reached out for the ball, then appeared to cradle it to his stomach as he fell face-first. But Green Bay challenged the call and it was overturned, with referee Scott Green saying that Shiancoe had used the ground to assist in making the catch.
The Vikings eventually settled for a field goal. The four-point swing wound up being the difference in Green Bay’s 28-24 win
