Guru, the legendary member of iconic hip hop group Gang Starr with DJ Premier, has died.
Keith Elam aka Rapper Guru, who was born in the neighborhood of Roxbury and member of the group Gang Starr has died. Guru was one of the greatest musicians in hip-hop/jazz crossover.
Guru, one half of pioneering Brooklyn-based hip-hop group Gang Starr,Guru is best known for penning hits such as “Words I Manifest,” “Discipline,” and “Just To Get A Rep” with legendary producer DJ Premier.The star, one half of pioneering hip-hop duo Gang Starr,
"I, Guru, am writing this letter to my fans, friends and loved ones around the world. I have had a long battle with cancer and have succumbed to the disease. I have suffered with this illness for over a year. I have exhausted all medical options. I write this with tears in my eyes, not of sorrow but of joy for what a wonderful life I have enjoyed and how many great people I have had the pleasure of meeting."
