Windows Phone 7

Windows Phone 7 is launching tomorrow here in the UK. All five of the chief networks in the UK will be offering at least one mobile phone tomorrow for sale.

The first on the list is the three networks that will be offering the Samsung Omnia 7. Right now, the gadget is only showing up with a page that allows you to register your concern even though we have heard from Microsoft [MSFT] that it will be launching tomorrow. The registration page is over here.

On the O2 network, clients will be able to buy the HTC HD7 smartphone tomorrow with details to be added to the O2 website shortly.

Over on the T-Mobile network, users can also pick up a Samsung Omnia 7. The Omnia 7 is already obtainable for pre-order on the T-Mobile website with phone prices ranging from free to about £300 depending on the tariff you choose.

Orange is offering a couple of handsets which includes the Samsung Omnia 7 over and above the HTC 7 Mozart. Both are not yet accessible for pre-order but should be ready soon. Details of the Omnia 7 can be foundhere while the 7 Mozart details can be found here.

Finally on to Vodafone, we see that the HTC 7 Trophy and the LG Optimus 7 smartphones will be offered. Full details should be added to the Vodafone website shortly.

Toyota Recall October 2010:Newly Designed Free Of Charge-Toyota has announced a voluntary recall of some 740,000 vehicles in the United States to address a potential leak problem with a seal in the brake master cylinder. The models that are being recalled in the U.S. are the 2005-2006MY Toyota Avalon, 2004-2006MY Highlander (non Hybrid) and Lexus RX330, and 2006 Lexus GS300, IS250, and IS350. Another 600,898 vehicles were recalled in Japan and approximately 200,000 in China for the same issue.

According to the company, there's a possibility that a small amount of the brake fluid could slowly leak from the brake master cylinder, resulting in illumination of the brake warning lamp.

"If the brake warning lamp has illuminated and the vehicle continues to be operated without refilling the master cylinder brake fluid reservoir, the driver will begin to notice a spongy or soft brake pedal feel and braking performance may gradually decline," said the automaker.

Toyota said it will begin notifying owners of the involved vehicles through mail beginning in early November 2010. As with all recalls, Toyota and Lexus dealers will replace the brake master cylinder cup with a newly designed free of charge.

As a newcomer to the Glee phenomenon -- I've only seen the past two episodes -- I'm suprised by all the outcry. In just those two hour-long shows, story lines have included a pregnant high schooler's decision about keeping her baby, a cheerleader's seduction of a student, and enough sexual innuendo and looks to heat a home through a New England winter.

Granted, the GQ photos are pretty spicy, but they're not a great departure from the costuming and posturing on the show itself. And remember, Lea Michele and Dianna Agron, who are featured in the magazine, may portray high schoolers on the show, but they're 24 years old. So when Agron semi-apologizes for the photo shoot, I'm a bit flummoxed.

Parents face a legitimate issue: At what age should kids be allowed to watch the hugely popular show? And how do parents address topics on the show? But that's a much more important question than a few magazine photos.

With the World Series behind us the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies can finally join the rest of the league in gearing up for the 2010 season but they won’t be alone. Jay Levy, ESPN Senior Coordinating Producer, and the rest of the ESPN team that covers baseball will be hard at work in the offseason gearing up for better coverage and new technologies. The goal? Continue to meet the growing expectations of baseball fans for solid, in-depth coverage.

“We keep looking for new ways to take the data and information and take the fan to a place they can’t get themselves,” says Levy. “It’s easy for fans in the ballpark to be able to see how fast pitches are as radar gun data is on the big screen but for us it’s segments like ‘That’s Nasty’ that features the nastiest pitch of the night. And next year we want to take that data and combine it with virtual technology.”

The Virtual Pitch Technology made its debut late this season on “Baseball Tonight” but Levy promises that ESPN has not even scratched the surface of how that technology will transform the viewer experience. “We will use virtual technology to take the fan and put them in the batter’s box so they can see how a pitch looks as it crosses home plate,” he says.

A near-term goal is to continue to work on turning data around more quickly so that, for example, something can be turned around for viewers in a couple of hours for baseball tonight instead of having to wait until the next night’s broadcast. And with technology development taking place in house it’s easier than ever to overcome those challenges.

“When I first came to ESPN we would farm out those projects and we could enhance them but we weren’t designing them,” he says. “It’s incredible what the emerging technology group at ESPN has figured out, especially in the realm of virtual graphics.”

Of course all that virtual technology will still have to enhance solid commentary and analysis. For ESPN that means having editorial boots on the ground at the biggest events like the World Series along with technical facilities to ensure content returns to ESPN in top-notch form. For example, at this year’s World Series ESPN, for the first time ever, delivered HD coverage from the ballparks back to ESPN headquarters. And some of the limitations, like the lack of parking at Yankee Stadium, led to some creative solutions.

Is it worth spending a fortune on a double stroller, if I am unsure If I am going to require it or not?

I’ve had several people tell me it would be insanity not to get one…but I don’t think I go out shopping by myself often enough to justify getting a new stroller.
We still have an old umbrella stroller if we have gone out for an entire day that me night nap in or something, but even naps are few and far between these days. On big trips, I am never by myself I should add.

I know it’s easy to say I won’t need one at the minute (as I only have one child) but I am worried I am going to find myself out of sorts if I one day try to take my newborn and toddler out, and toddler won’t cooperate.

But even if you believe that Anita Hill lied, you have to recognize that this situation may never be resolved. It is much more likely that the Hill-Thomas controversy will continue orbiting the same surreal territory of other sex scandals.

The larger question is why can’t Justice and Mrs. Thomas let this go? Inquiring minds want to know.

From Roy Halladay’s epic no-hitter to Cliff Lee’s dominating series-clinching game 5 W against the Rays to give the Texas Rangers their first postseason series victory EVER, the 2010 LDS round will be remembered as one of the good ones.

One thing that has carried over from the 2010 regular season: amazing pitching. In what has been widely hailed as “The Year of the Pitcher”, 2010 gave us 5 no-hitters (1 being a perfect game by Roy Halladay…cough cough, go Phils!) and 15 starting pitchers that ended the season with an ERA under 3.00. The first round of this year’s playoffs showcased masterful pitching, with Roy Halladay (see above), Cole Hamels, Cliff Lee, and Tim Lincecum each throwing for a complete game victory.

There were also some painful memories made in the LDS, most notably Atlanta Braves infielder Brooks Conrad’s game 3 against SF. Kid had 3 errors, which led to a difficult, and tough to watch Atlanta loss.

But now we shift our focus to happier times; the League Championship Series round. Symmetry is present in both series’; both have the respective league champion against a championship-starved franchise. In the National League Championship Series, we have the San Francisco Giants looking to dethrone the two-time National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies, while in the American League Championship Series, we have the Texas Rangers trying to overcome the defending World Champion New York Yankees.

Jenn Brown Replaced Another Former Florida Gator.

ESPN reporter Jenn Brown- will be inducted into the Bishop Moore High School Hall of Fame along with Minnesota Twins Drew Butera Thursday, Oct. 14. In just 29 years, she has amassed an impressive list of accomplishments.

Brown holds the school record for most varsity letters by an athlete with 14 and competed in seven sports during her tenure with the Hornets athletic program: cross country, volleyball, diving, bowling, basketball, softball and track. She earned a scholarship to the University of Florida where she competed for the Gators softball team before continuing a successful career in television with the E! channel, Showtime Sports and ESPN.

Jenn Brown replaced another former Florida Gator graduate Erin Andrews on Thursday night’s College Football Primetime on ESPN this season.

“I’m so thankful to Bishop Moore High School and all of my coaches and teammates,” Brown said via press release. “They understood my dream of breaking this record (most letters in school history) and helped paved the way in my becoming who I am today. The Titans hope to continue their impressive winning ways on the road. It will be a tough(ish) task against the Jaguars, who seem to be playing a bit above their heads so far in 2010. Add to that the fact that the Texans and Colts both won on Sunday, and this is suddenly a very important game. I’ve got the feeling we’ll be saying that a lot about the 2010 schedule, the way the division seems to be shaking out.

ON OFFENSE
Hm, let’s see if we can figure out the mystery. The Titans need to run the ball and control the line of scrimmage. They have to make sure Vince Young isn’t put in a position to have to win the game for them. The Titans have had more offensive line issues than expected this season, and it has certainly affected Chris Johnson’s production. The Jaguars are decent against the run, and terrible against the pass – but that shouldn’t change Tennessee’s game plan. The Titans are most successful when they do what they do best, despite the strengths of the other team’s defense.

ON DEFENSE
Obviously, every defensive game plan against the Jaguars starts with stopping Maurice Jones-Drew. That’s a given. The Titans should continue to get solid pressure on the quarterback this week. The Jags have only given up 12 sacks this season, but the Titans matchup well against their tackles… which isn’t saying much – the Titans defensive line matches up well against anyone. And no, there were absolutely not nine teams that improved their resumes enough to warrant replacing the losers.

* The big winners on the field and on the ballot were Michigan State and Wisconsin.

The Badgers’ victory over Ohio State (which was No. 7 on my ballot last week) warranted a move up the ballot. At the same time, Michigan State deserves to be ahead of Wisconsin based on its head-to-head win and better overall resume. So I moved MSU up, as well.

Both teams jumped a good 12-15 spots, which isn’t unusual. (As I’ve explained before, the AP encourages big moves up and down to offset preseason bias.)

But some of that Big Ten bounce was due to the nine teams losing. My initial sketch did not have the Spartans in the 8 hole and the Badgers in the 10 hole.

* Another winner was Stanford, which moved up five spots, to No. 7, even though it didn’t play.

The Cardinal received a slight resume upgrade with USC’s showing vs. Cal, but in a typical week I wouldn’t have moved Stanford that high. It’s just that the teams ranked 7, 9, 10, 11, 13 and 15 on last week’s allot all lost — and again, most of those losses were not quality losses.
