Tropical Storm Danielle 2010 :Increase In Forward Speed
Tropical Storm Danielle emerged in the Eastern Atlantic on Sunday afternoon and is projected to steadily strengthen into a hurricane by Wednesday.
Meteorologists said Danielle currently is embedded within a large area of an "enhanced deeplayer moisture event." It is expected to take a turn toward the west-northwest, with an increase in forward speed, but its current track does not show movement toward the Gulf of Mexico.
The long-range forecast continues to look good for Florida, as the system is predicted to curve well to the northeast of the Lesser Antilles by Thursday.The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), in its latest revised forecast, has predicted there will be 14 to 20 storms, with eight to 12 of those strengthening into hurricanes. It also forecast that four to six of these would become major hurricanes.

It began as a tropical depression that formed about 580 miles west south west of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands with maximum sustained winds of 30 miles per hour and by yesterday evening it had developed into Tropical Storm Danielle. Maximum sustained winds have now doubled to 60 miles per hour.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Danielle is getting stronger far out over the Atlantic. Danielle's maximum sustained winds were measured at about 57 mph, the National Hurricane Center reports.Hurricane center meteorologists said Danielle is expected to strengthen in the next 24 hours and could become a hurricane tonight or early Tuesday.

Biggest freshwater British fish dies aged 45
LONDON: A huge carp admired by generations of anglers has died at 45 years old.
The 68lb mirror carp, Britain’s biggest freshwater fish, was found floating on his lake and is believed to have succumbed to old age.
He was notoriously hard to catch and landed only once or twice a year. Some anglers spent up to 15 years trying to land him without success.
Known as Two Tone because of his colour, the carp will be buried beside Conningbrook Lake, Chilham, Kent. A plaque will mark the spot.

LONDON: A new study has found that acute exercise can worsen muscular pain but long-term exercise reduces it.
Researchers from Middleton Memorial Hospital in Madison, Wis. and the University of Wisconsin tested levels of experimental pain sensitivity in Gulf War veterans following acute exercise sessions.
As many as 100,000 veterans from the first Gulf War have reported chronic musculoskeletal pain (CMP) since returning home.
Vets with CMP were predicted to rate naturally occurring pain from exercise as more intense. Thirty-two veterans (15 with CMP and 17 healthy) were studied, and the study protocols were reviewed and approved by the VA.
The researchers reported that, consistent with their hypothesis, vets with CMP claimed that heat induced pain stimuli was more intense and unpleasant than evidenced in healthy subjects.
They also had greater leg pain intensity during exercise and were more sensitive to the pain stimuli following acute exercise compared to pre-exercise ratings. Pain thresholds, however, did not show significant differences between healthy subjects and those with CMP, contrary to what the researchers hypothesized.
The authors noted that exercise research in chronic muscle pain patients shows a paradox in that acute exercise appears to exacerbate pain while chronic exercise can reduce pain.
The authors concluded that their results show acute exercise influences the suffering components of pain and can be helpful to clinicians in prescribing appropriate physical activity for patients with CMP.

Boman to host 'The Pitch' on TV
MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Boman Irani is set to host a business game show "The Pitch" that aims at encouraging budding entrepreneurs and which will earn the winner a whopping Rs.5 crore. He says he wants to experiment as much as possible as he started out only at age 44.
"I don't have time on this planet, I started at 44, I have to go ahead and do what I want. When Shankar (Mahadevan) said to sing a song with him, I joined him...it should excite me. I won't do things for the sake of doing it. Something should strike a cord inside me... This ('The Pitch') did and I am on," Boman told after a television unveiled the reality show here Tuesday.
The show, which will be telecast on business news channel, will shortlist 10 people with some entrepreneurial ideas. They will face challenges thrown by some of India's prominent business leaders like Rahul Bajaj, Kishore Biyani, Nainalal Kidwai and filmmaker Karan Johar among others to win the show.
The 10-episode show will eliminate one contestant every day and the winner would be awarded Rs.5 crore to start his business.
Boman says he agreed for the show because he will get to learn a lot.
"I am excited to be a part of this show as I am truly convinced with the philosophy of promoting entrepreneurship. 'The Pitch' will not only identify the next big idea in India but will also help the winner see the light of day- offering them the funding to make the idea come alive," Boman said.
"I am eagerly waiting to learn from these bright and talented sparks of emerging India and test myself over the challenges set by the stalwarts of India," added the actor, who has worked in theatre before and is a professional photographer.
This is not the first time Boman is hosting a show. He had earlier quizzed people about their knowledge on "Bollywood Ka Boss", which used to air on a television channel.

Pak budget to be reviewed in IMF talks
WASHINGTON: Following the catastrophic floods in Pakistan, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said Saturday it would review Pakistan’s budget and economic prospects during talks with senior government officials scheduled to start on Monday.
As per details, the Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh along with other senior finance officials are travelling to Washington for the talks with the IMF.
The IMF talks, set to focus on the future of Pakistan’s $10 billion IMF program agreed upon in 2008, would also be an opportunity to speak directly to the Obama administration about aid.
In a statement, IMF Director for the Middle East and Central Asia Masood Ahmed said that “The scale of the tragedy means that the country’s budget and macroeconomic prospects, which are being supported by an IMF financed program, will need to be reviewed”.
He underlined that the talks would evaluate the economic impact of the flooding, assess the measures needed to address the damage, and discuss ways in which the IMF could help.

MEXICO CITY: Nearly 2,500 people gathered in Mexico City Saturday to try for a new world record for the largest number of simultaneously erupting Mentos geysers. That's when Mentos candies are dropped into a bottle of soda and the fizz creates a geyser effect.
Guinness World Records adjudicator Mike Janela was at the event to confirm a new record set. He says "all those fountains erupted it was just incredible to see."
The crowd achieved a new world record, with some 2,433 Mentos and soda geysers.
They dropped Mentos candies into a 2-liter bottle of soda, causing the liquid to shoot up into the air. China held a similar event in June, but reached only 2,175 geysers.
Saturday's crowd walked away with a certificate from Guinness World Records and clothes drenched in soda.

In his telephonic address to MQM workers here in Azizabad from London, the MQM Chief urged what he called patriotic generals ‘to initiate Martial Law like steps against unscrupulous politicians.’
Altaf Hussain demanded initiation of criminal case on charges of mass murder against feudal lords and landlords who diverted floods to save their crops towards localities/villages of the poor.
“Landlords and feudals always created hurdles for the poor and middle class, keeping them from coming forward in politics,” he maintained, adding that the political stalwarts seem hell bent on disintegrating the country.
He said the country is in desperate need of change like French Revolution and that MQM by stirring such a revolution will make an example of trepidation out of the landlords, feudals and capitalists.
Altaf Hussain said pockets of religious parties and Army generals were stuffed with dollars during Soviet led war in Afghanistan while orphan Mujahideens are becoming fuel for the Taliban.

The Hall of Fame teams come into this pre-season game as defensive division champions and obviously both are looking to make their 1st step toward the 2011 Superbowl.
The Cincinnati Bengals are almost getting a home game with the 2010 Hall of Fame Game, and it should ensure that all of the tickets are sold out for the game. In reality, the 2010 Hall of Fame Game means nothing when it comes to the standings, and this is just a preseason game that won't count against the team that loses.
In that game they will play against Oakland. After tonight’s game, the next match for the Cincinnatti Bengals is on Sunday, August 15 against Denver at 7:00 pm ET.

The Cincinnati Bengals were somewhat void of hype going into the 2010 season unless you count the signings of some of the NFL’s “distracters”. Pacman Jones and Tank Johnson headline a roster full of law breakers and chemistry poison.
They will complete a WR duo that could either make Cincy a playoff team or rip the team to pieces. Tomorrow’s game will be our first glimpse at how that will work out, so that will be fun to watch. However, once Ocho and Owens leave the field the game will become blah as the backups get their chance.

A couple of weeks ago, I emailed a director acquaintance of mine to say I was off to a preview of his new film.The Human Centipede First Sequence is a newly-released schlock-horror film about a crazy surgeon who attempts to make a human centipede by sewing people together mouth-to-butt. Roger Ebert refused to apply the star system to it in his review.
the story is completely lacking because the concept doesn’t dictate anything plotwise. It’s high concept, but there are a ton of scenes that could have been cut from the beginning, middle and end without the movie losing anything. In fact, it could use a keen editing session. it is without question one of the most disgusting horror films ever made.

Google Android Outsells Apple iPhone
According to the Nielsen Company data released today, the Google Andriod smartphones have outsold Apple’s iPhones during the first six months of 2010.
Google’s Android operating system accounted for 27 percent of all smartphone sales during the first six months of this year, while Apple’s iPhones made up 23 percent of sales.
“While the iPhone has been the headline grabber over the last few years in the smartphone market, Google’s Android OS has shown the most significant expansion in market share among current subscribers,” Nielsen says in a blog post.
The maker of BlackBerry phones – Research in Motion – still leads the smartphone market in the United States, with a third of all smartphones sold in the last six months running on RIM’s operating system.
Despite the growth Google Android phones have seen over the last six months, they are still less popular overall than Apple phones. Of all U.S. smartphone subscribers, 13 percent have Android-based phones and 28 percent have iPhones.
According to Nielsen Company research, iPhone users are the most loyal of smartphone consumers. Nearly 90 percent of current iPhone users say they are loyal to their iPhone, while 21% of Android users and 29% of Blackberry owners say they would consider the move to Apple.
The Nielsen Company says smartphones now make up 25% of the U.S. mobile market, up from 23% in the last quarter. By the end of 2011, Nielsen predicts smartphones will overtake the common feature phones in the U.S. market.

Even if the user is not near the Wi-Fi hotspot, he will be able to connect wirelessly to his mobile phone with Bluetooth and then to the internet.

The Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang , better known by the abbreviation AG has conducted an investigation into the reception problems on the latest smartphone from Cupertino.
After a series of comparative tests conducted on the iPhone 3G, 4G iPhone, the HTC and the Nokia E71 Wildfire, the Norwegian newspaper says " antenna design does not interfere with the manner of holding the phone. Tests were conducted in the area covered by the Norwegian operator Telenor".
The paper reaches the following extortion; scary for the competition: " the problem of air and dropped calls on iPhone 4 is a uniquely American problem and probably more related to local operator AT & T, Al ".

Jailbreak iOS from the device itself using Safari!
The iPhone Dev team (Comex) has released a unique jailbreaking method that atleast i have not heard of. What they have managed to achieve is amazing as now you can jailbreak your iOS device by just going to their website i.e www.jailbreakme.com from the Safari browser of you device and do it right there. This jailbreak is working on iPad and iPhone 4 with iOS 4.0 and 4.01. It won’t work for users with iOS 4.1 beta (atleast for now)
PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.40 Around The Corner – PlayStation Plus Incoming
News on a firmware update for the PlayStation 3 is in the air (firmware 3.40). This firmware update has the PlayStation Plus, premium service which Sony announced at E3 2010. To give a quick recap, $50 annual fee nets you a 50 percent discount on PSN titles, early access to betas, and one hour of demo time on select full titles (among other benefits). If you aren’t willing to shell out the money though however for the Plus service, there are a few other worthy tidbits in the software patch including five-star ratings for content purchased on the Store, a video editor and uploader for Facebook and YouTube (not a video capture service), and further integration into Picasa and Facebook photo galleries. While we are on the topic of Facebook, a new app will be appearing on the social site showing off your PSN profile and friending others. Although a list of some of the firmware updates was released, no exact release date was given, but if the past is any indication of when this firmware is to be released, then it won’t be too long until everyone will see the update message upon logging onto PSN.
Adobe Demos Flash on Android Tablet
Adobe pulled off something of a surprise as the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco when the company demonstrated Flash and Adobe AIR running on an Android-based touchscreen tablet. The prototype tablet apparently played Flash content without any problems, according to Zedomax, which means Adobe may have finally shown that Flash can run acceptably on mobile devices.
The tablet device looked to be based on NVIDIA’s prototype tablet hardware that could be available for consumers near the end of the year.
Assuming production models perform as well as the prototype demonstration, and offers battery life that’s in line with the iPad, competition in Apple’s redefined tablet market could heat up.
The demonstration is also good news for Adobe since the company needed to show its Flash technology running smoothly on portable devices following its weak response to an open letter from Apple CEO Steve Jobs that slammed Flash.
The two companies have been openly sparring ever since Apple revised the license for iPhone OS 4 developers to block third-party tools that can’t directly link to Apple’s APIs. Adobe had been showing off its Flash CS5 module that converts Flash apps into native iPhone apps ahead of the announcement.
Whether or not Adobe’s prototype tablet running Google’s Android platform will be enough to convince Apple that Flash belongs on mobile devices, however, remains to be seen.

Huawei Officially Announces U8230 Android Smartphone
It's been a long time coming (we first got wind of a Huawei Android phone at this years Mobile World Congress) but finally Huawei has confirmed its long-awaited Android phone in the form of the U8230. It looks very similar to the mockup they had on display at MWC but with a bit of extra bling thanks to some silver edging.

According to the press release it will sport a 3.5 inch touchscreen, allow users to switch between full and half QWERTY keyboards and has a 1500 mAh which they claim has "the longest battery capacity of any Android-powered handsets currently available." True, but then it doesn't take much to beat the G1's measly 1150 mAh or even the Magic's 1340 mAh. But hang on, doesn't Samsung's Galaxy have a 1500 mAh battery as well? Let's hope that Huawei's Android offering has a little more to brag about than increased battery life.

Amazon's 6-inch Kindle is now unavailable
Could the unavailability of the 6-inch Kindle on Amazon's website point towards the impending release of a next generation Kindle which has long been rumored to ship sometime next month? This is the first shortage of its kind since last year, where it also does not come with an estimated in-stock date. This could be due to the recent price drop to $189 that resulted in a sales spike shortly after that. Hopefully the next generation Kindle will be something worth writing about, and one that will offer some competition to the Apple iPad which has certainly done gangbusters since it was released less than half a year ago.

The new Kindle DX has still the big 9.7-inch large screen but now with an all new, high contrast electronic ink display with 50% better contrast for the clearest text and sharpest images.
he new Kindle DX features a new graphite enclosure and still comes with the included free 3G wireless despite the considerable lower price.
The new Kindle DX is available for pre-order starting today at Amazon and it ships July 7.

And with that, Amazon's Kindle platform slowly oozes its way into another crop of smartphone handsets. Android owners (version 1.6 and higher) can now download the Kindle app from the Android Market and synchronize books across all the other Kindle-infused gadgets strewn about the home.
Still no support for magazines or newspapers on anything but the actual Kindle hardware itself, but with this latest release the book portion of the equation has now spread to the iPhone and iPod Touch, Windows and Mac computers, BlackBerry handsets, and the iPad.

Amazon Kindle for Mac Client Finally Arrives
Just over two weeks before the first iPads with an e-book store arrive, Amazon delivers its Kindle for Mac client. The software was listed as “coming soon” for longer than I define the word soon, but it’s a moot point now. It’s here and it’s free for Mac OS X 10.5+, making it another way to buy and read Kindle content without purchasing a Kindle device. I downloaded the client this morning and once signed in, saw my entire Kindle library, as expected.
Like the Windows version, this is a pretty bare-bones bit of software. You can see your library in color, but I don’t see a way to change the color of the actual pages. Text size and words per line are configurable, and you can show notes and bookmarks, but you can only make bookmarks — there’s no way to make notes, but that too is “coming soon.” That’s a shame since I’m reading a book with a nice, easy-to-use keyboard in front of me.
Control of pages is done through either a keyboard or a mouse, but one caveat — with my Apple Magic Mouse, I swiped from right to left for a page turn and immediately became dizzy. The kinetic action that’s useful when surfing the web isn’t so useful when reading a book. Pages whizzed by at an arming rate, making it look to observers that I was a champion speed reader. I’m not, although I’m clearly a champion mouse scroller.
What I least understand in all of this is: why did it take so long? And since the wait was so long, why such a limited client that’s essentially just showing text in a window? I’m happy to see the software, of course. In fact, I just bought a beginner’s guide to Java last weekend and I had my Kindle propped up next to my Mac — I was reading code snippets on the small eInk display and coding on the larger Mac screen. Now I can do both activities on the same screen. But for all of the waiting, I wonder if some will say, “This is it?”
